Little Town→Big City

11 Aug

I’m sitting in the Jacksonville airport waiting to board my flight to JFK. This is so bittersweet!

I’m excited to finish my last semester of college and get back to the city, my sister, and my church, but I am sad to leave my parents, grandparents, and the McCary family. It’s been an incredible summer. I’m beyond thankful for the lessons the Lord has taught me and the time I’ve spent here in PVB.

I know I made the right decision to come home this summer.

CS Lewis once said: “It is not your business to succeed, but to do right; when you have done so, the rest lies with God.” I am thankful to have put my ambition behind me and focused on the most important things in life: my relationship with the Lord and my family (and my new family, the McCary’s!).

As I sit here in these stiff blue chairs thinking about the past three months, a phone call I received from my mom in the end of April April keeps coming to mind.

It went something like this:

“Hi dear…I know you have a tough decision to make over the next few days, but it’s your call. This internship is a great opportunity, but we would love to have you home too. Keep praying. I know the Lord will direct your steps.”

“Thanks mom, I’ll let you know what I decide tomorrow or Friday. Love you.”

“Love you. Just know, we don’t want you to be bored. If you come to Florida, you might get bored. That’s all I’m saying.”

“Bored? Thanks, but I’ll let you know my decision soon. Bye mom, love you.”

Mom, I wasn’t bored for a second!

Thanks for a great summer, Florida.

Love,

Sarah Ruth

Russ Vs. Ryan

7 Aug

T-Four days until I’m back in Manhattan!

I spent my last Saturday at the beach with the McCary’s. Here’s a little summary of our time on the beach and in the surf-be sure to check out Russ and Ryan’s rap battle at the end of the video. I am so thankful to have made such good friends this summer. Now they need to come visit me in the city!

So, who had the best rap?

Love,

Sarah Ruth

Ps. The Track on the video is called Nada Noche and is by my favorite summer band, Givers. Enjoy!
